Looking for an easy and eco-friendly Christmas project? In our latest video, we show how to create a beautiful Christmas tree made from scrap wood found at the Upcycle Centrum in Almere. This simple DIY decoration gives a second life to wood that would normally be thrown away, and it’s a great way to add a warm, handmade touch to your holiday home.

Why use scrap wood?
Using reclaimed or discarded wood is one of the best ways to reduce waste. At the Upcycle Centrum in Almere, many pieces of wood are perfect for creative projects. Instead of ending up in the trash, this wood becomes something useful and festive!
Tools and materials
All you need for this project is:

How we built it
We cut the wood into simple horizontal “branches,” placed them from longest to shortest, and fixed everything to a main vertical board. The final shape looks like a modern, minimalist Christmas tree — perfect for small spaces, workshops, offices, or kids’ rooms.
A sustainable holiday decoration
This DIY tree is not only cheap and easy to build, but it also shows how much beauty you can create with materials that others throw away. It is strong, reusable, and can be customized with lights, natural decorations, or even small wooden ornaments.
