Hi DIY lovers!!
Welcome back to another recycled project on MyATCtv DIY!
Today, I’m back with some fresh ideas for recycling pallet wood.In this project, I’ll show you how to build a vegetable crate, which can also be used as a storage box for many other things.

What You Need to Get Started
Before we begin, let’s take a look at the tools and materials needed to build this wooden crate.
Tools & Materials
Step 1: Cleaning and Preparing the Wood
For this project, I use EPAL pallets as well as thinner Asian-type pallets.
I start by dismantling the pallets using a hammer and a reciprocating saw.Once the boards are separated, I remove all the nails carefully to prepare the wood for the next steps.

Step 2: Cutting and Assembly
Next, I clean and straighten the boards using a jointer, then finish all cuts with the mitre saw.
I begin assembling the first crate. The idea is to create:
One large crate at the bottom
Two smaller crates placed higher
This layout is practical and gives a nice visual balance.

Step 3: Sanding and Finishing
For the white crate, I:
Sanded the wood
Applied varnish
Painted the exterior in white
For the inside of the crates, I used the Shou Sugi Ban technique (burning the wood). This helps protect the wood and makes the crates more resistant to weather, especially if they are used outdoors.
A Versatile Result
As you can see, these crates are not only for vegetables you can store many other items as well!
