This time, I decided to create a DIY bamboo acoustic speaker, a natural sound amplifier that enhances your smartphone’s audio without using any electricity or electronics. Just pure design, craftsmanship, and the power of bamboo.
From Guadeloupe to My Workshop in the Netherlands
During one of my recent visits to my island, Guadeloupe, I received several bamboo pieces from a good friend. Bamboo grows naturally there and is known for its strength, durability, and excellent acoustic properties.
Before bringing them back to my workshop in the Netherlands, I carefully cleaned and prepared each piece. This step is essential to preserve the bamboo and ensure a clean, high-quality finish for the final design.
Using natural materials from different parts of the world gives each creation a unique story and that’s what I love about working with reclaimed and eco-friendly resources.

Cutting bamboo is not as easy as it may seem!
Because of its strong and hollow structure, it requires precision, patience, and the right tools. But after carefully shaping and smoothing the bamboo, the result turned into a minimalist and elegant acoustic speaker design.
