A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon a beautiful LOVE shelf project. I instantly knew it would be perfect for my home. The design was simple, decorative, and full of meaning—just the type of project I love to create. Inspired by various photos of different LOVE shelves, I began sketching my own designs until I found the perfect version.
Valentine's Day is the perfect occasion to create something handmade. A DIY project like this LOVE shelf is not just a decorative piece; it’s also a symbol of creativity, dedication, and the time spent creating something meaningful.
Planning Your LOVE Shelf
I started by deciding the size of the shelf. Once I defined the main dimensions, it became much easier to calculate the rest. With the plan ready, I went shopping for the wood and additional materials needed to assemble the shelf.

How to Build Your LOVE Shelf
1. Choose the Length
First, decide on the length of your LOVE shelf. This step is crucial, as it determines how much wood you need to buy.
2. Buy the Materials
When purchasing materials, keep in mind that the V-shaped angle of the design can be tricky to cut. Having an angle finder on hand will make this step much easier and help you achieve precise cuts.
3. Measure and Cut
Start by measuring everything carefully. Once you have all the measurements, you can begin cutting the wood. Use the pattern as a reference for the exact dimensions.
4. Assemble Before Screwing
Before screwing everything together, lay all the pieces of wood on the ground in the correct order. This will give you a clear view of the structure and help you avoid mistakes. In the video below, I show an easy and efficient way to assemble the shelf without forgetting any loose pieces.
5. Final Touches
For this project, I decided to burn the wood to create a rustic, aged look. Personally, I love this effect, especially when the shelf is placed against a wooden wall: it adds warmth and character to the design.
After burning the wood, I applied a light coat of varnish to protect the surface and enhance the burned texture.
