Memory foam, which is mostly associated with the memory foam mattresses, is the visco elastic material that remains any form pressed into it. One of the most famous premium brands for memory foam mattresses is Tempur-Pedic, the same company that helped NASA in the development on the material. Besides Tempur-Pedic there are two more brands worth mentioning but will will get to them in a bit.
Tempur-Pedic Company is the leader in memory foam industry. They offer three kinds of mattresses with different level of thickness and firmness. Classic, deluxe and celebrity. The classic has a basic layer of 11 cm and firmness at 20 cm. The deluxe is thicker. It has two base layers for more airflow, which allows a softer and cooler sleep. It’s firmness is at 25 inches. The Celebrity, however, is even thicker at 33 cm and is the softest memory foam mattress the company has to offer.
The other two companies are Sensus and Serta.
Sensus Company - the memory foam mattresses have a density of 2,2 kg per cubic foot, which makes it a high density mattress. It lasts on average 10 years and it may get soft a little over time. The softness of the foam has ILD of 14 and is as good as the Tempur-Pedic ones, only at a cheaper price.
Serta Company was formed in 1931, but didn’t start offering memory foam mattresses until the 1990’s. As manufacturers they have very high productivity but not a very knowledgeable customer service representatives. Therefore if you decide to go for them, visit a small retailer or a local dealer.
